The Leadership SummitTM

3 Day In-Person Programme

Transform your team: Unlock the power of your female leaders

Programme Impact:
Empowers your female leaders & builds diversity for sustainable growth and success

What is The Leadership Summit?

With over 1,500 alumni from every sector of the economy, The Leadership Summit is one of the most successful programmes in the UK designed to empower women in senior management positions to fulfil their potential.

Its a highly immersive, engaging and stretching development programme that helps women find their power and their voice and to use these to achieve both career and life goals.

As a three-day residential programme, it takes women on a development journey that builds confidence, communication and connections, clarifies career paths, and enhances resilience so they can maximise their potential impact.

Who is The Leadership Summit for?

This programme is designed for aspiring senior women leaders, progressing through large and complex organisations

Our Leadership Summit is tailored to meet the diverse needs of organisations across sectors. Clients have chosen to enroll groups of women in our Open Programmes, recognising the additional benefits of networking and insights gained from interacting with women from various sectors. On the other hand, organisations like the Aldermore, the Cabinet Office and other Civil Service departments have opted for internal versions of the programme, leveraging shared employment experiences and creating internal networks and environments for valuable learning opportunities.

We also offer Closed Programmes specifically tailored for ethnic minority women. These Closed Programmes provide a focused and supportive environment for addressing the unique challenges faced by ethnic minority women in their professional advancement. Our Closed Programmes aim to create a safe space where ethnic minority women can openly discuss their experiences, receive tailored support, and connect with peers facing similar challenges. Through these programmes, we strive to empower ethnic minority women to recognise and realise their full potential in leadership roles.

This versatile approach reflects our commitment to supporting organisations in maximising the potential of their female talent and promoting gender parity in leadership roles. By enrolling women in our programmes, clients consistently report improved retention rates and increased success in promoting them into leadership positions.

Nominating organisations are seeking a development experience that:

  • Supports the organisational goal of achieving greater gender parity by facilitating the advancement of more women into senior leadership roles.
  • Provides access to a network of similar organisations, allowing for the sharing of relevant learnings and experiences among women.
  • Empowers women to share their experiences and seek assistance in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Draws upon the expertise of faculty and high-profile speakers who share their leadership lessons and career journeys.
  • Is tailored to address the specific career challenges that women encounters

The ideal participant typically

  • Has over 10 years of work experience, managing people, or is recognised for their subject matter expertise.
  • Has been identified as having high potential.
  • Is either newly promoted or ready to be promoted within the next 24 months.
  • Has access to career development support within the organisation and support from their line management.

Whether through our Open Programmes or tailored Closed Programmes, we welcome individual nominations and collaborate closely with organisations to address their specific challenges and goals.

Organisations who work with us include

Our framework

From our experience, informed by research, we have created a framework that captures differences in development outcomes that need to be considered if women and men are to experience equitable treatment in merit-based resourcing decisions.

Fundamentally, the challenge for organisations is that men and women differ in some crucial areas. As a result, women can perform differently in roles and in selection and resourcing processes. This often obscures their capabilities and potential. Specifically, there are four areas where coaching, input, and practice in a women-only environment can enable women to compete on merit and fulfil their potential to contribute to organisational success. Given the evidence, it is clear that supporting women to build capability as they transition from middle management into more senior roles can make a significant difference not only to them as individuals but also to their organisations.

The evidence points to four areas where, for women specifically, input, coaching, and support to build skills can ensure a more level playing field where their talents and abilities are more visible and recognisable as they are considered for promotion into more senior leadership roles:

  • In communication about herself, her achievements, her value, and her needs
  • In understanding and articulating her purpose
  • In understanding how organisations work, what it takes to succeed and where women can utilise their differences for the benefit of the organisation
  • Understanding the importance of networks.
  • Identifying and enlisting active sponsors within the organisation.
  • Sourcing coaching and mentoring and understanding how to structure this to deliver realistic career opportunities.
  • Having a clear plan and goals and being able to articulate these to herself and others
  • Receiving valuable feedback from managers and others to understand the real gaps she needs to close and identify opportunities she can target for her next role, creating plans to close these gaps.
  • Establishing a healthy and sustainable work/life balance and managing the inevitable pressures of a senior role on other life responsibilities.
  • Understanding the specific health and wellbeing issues that come with being a woman and having strategies in place to manage them effectively.
  • Encouraging behaviour that acknowledges setbacks and fosters a growth mindset.

The impact of The Pipeline's Leadership Summit on my leadership journey has been profound. Empowered by newfound confidence, I pursued a promotion that once seemed beyond reach. In January 2024, I assumed my new executive role, a testament to the transformative power of the programme.

How to enrol your female leaders

With only 5 open programmes a year and a maximum of 24 women on each programme The Leadership Summit looks to attract a range of nominating organisations for any year

The number of organisations is driven by the scale of nominations they are looking to make over a calendar year. Ideally we are looking for organisations who want to nominate between five and twenty five women over the year enabling a good mix on every programme and the ability to build support networks back in the organisation itself.

We will add nominating organisations over the year but at a scale where they enable us to maintain the mix of attendees. This means that some nominating organisations may have an internal waiting list for places.

For companies wishing to build and strengthen internal networks, we can deliver The Leadership Summit as a closed programme.

The Pipeline

The Pipeline was established to address the lack of gender parity in the leadership of organisations, private, public and third sector and support organisations to maximise the potential of the talented women they employ such that their organisations can perform better

We offer consulting, coaching and development programmes to clients who want to achieve better talent pipeline outcomes at every level of their organisation and are looking for an agile, flexible, and responsive partner to create solutions to their problems. Since 2014 we have supported more than 170 clients to improve their talent pipeline performance.

We offer tailored programmes to organisations for women and ethnic minorities at senior management and senior leadership levels, and in 2024 will launch a new programme aimed at women in management with leadership potential. We publish the annual ‘Women Count’ report and run the acclaimed ‘Top Flight™’ programme for women with potential to reach the executive committee of their organisations. We also support organisations with the development and measurement of their diversity and inclusion strategies and provide executive coaching.
