Meet Jade Newman, a dynamic professional who has navigated a remarkable journey from Recruitment and Early Careers to thriving in Brand Partnerships at E.ON. Driven by a relentless pursuit of personal and professional growth, Jade’s quest for excellence led her to embark on a transformative journey with the Pipeline’s Leadership Summit Programme in November 2023.
What was your motivation to join?
When I first learned about The Pipeline’s Leadership Summit Programme through Claire Whitmore, Head of UK Digital Technology & Expert Services, who had attended the programme in 2021, I couldn't shake the feeling of longing to be part of it. I vividly recall expressing to Claire, “Why can’t I go on this?”. Moved by my eagerness, Claire, alongside my previous manager Lisa Fowkes, generously offered to sponsor my participation. In November 2023, I was granted the invaluable opportunity to embark on this transformative journey.
What was your Programme experience?
I was really nervous on the lead up to the programme, but quickly gained reassurance from our Chief People Officer, who had been on The Pipeline’s Top Flight Programme. I felt empowered and motivated, ready to take on the Leadership Summit. The most powerful element of the programme was the ability to network with different women, all from different cultures, organisations and experiences. Jolee, my buddy on the programme, was the opposite of me which really worked as we were able to encourage each other to go out of our comfort zones and learn alternative ways to view and manage situations, the Pipeline really did get this pairing spot on. Every woman on the course had a powerful story and they had raw emotion attached to that story. The course created a totally safe space which was imperative for me; we were able to be vulnerable and speak our truth, there were some tears, it was tough. I was very lucky with my cohort, and it was great to see such diversity, high energy and enthusiasm. The speakers and facilitators were also diverse and it was a great balance.
What’s the impact on your Leadership Skills?
The most powerful element was the networking of different women, all from different cultures, organisations and experiences. Jolee, my buddy on the programme was the complete opposite to myself but we’ve been able to encourage each other to go out of our comfort zones so the pairings were spot on. Every woman on the course had a powerful story and they had raw emotion attached to that story. It was a real safe space which was imperative for me; we were able to be vulnerable and speak our truth, people had tears at some points. I was very lucky in terms of the cohort, there was diversity and everyone was fantastic. The speakers and facilitators were also diverse and it was a great balance.
